Privacy Policy

Last updated: April 2026

BizPadi ("we," "us," or "our") operates the BizPadi mobile application, marketplace website (bizpadi.app), and landing page (home.bizpadi.app). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect information from users of our services, whether you use BizPadi as a Seller (business owner) or a Buyer (consumer).

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Account Information

  • Name, email address, and phone number provided during account registration.
  • Authentication credentials (passwords are hashed and never stored in plaintext).
  • Third-party sign-in data (e.g., Google or Apple account identifiers) if you choose social login.

1.2 Seller / Business Information

  • Business details: business name, type, description, logo, and location (region, suburb, area within Ghana).
  • Identity verification (KYC): Ghana Card information and a photo of the seller, submitted during business verification. This data is used solely for seller accountability and dispute resolution.
  • Financial data: invoice records, payment history, withdrawal details, tax settings, and bank/mobile money account information for payouts.
  • Product listings: product names, descriptions, images, prices, and inventory quantities.

1.3 Buyer / Consumer Information

  • Consumer profile: name and email, created when you first interact with a seller (e.g., start a chat).
  • Transaction data: invoices received, payments made, and delivery/dispute reports.
  • Saved products and browsing preferences.

1.4 Communications

  • Chat messages between buyers and sellers within the BizPadi messaging system.
  • Support requests sent to support@bizpadi.app.

1.5 Automatically Collected Data

  • Device information: device type, operating system, and app version.
  • Usage data: pages visited, features used, and interaction patterns (collected via analytics and error-tracking tools).
  • Push notification tokens for delivering push notifications.
  • IP address (logged by our infrastructure providers for security purposes).

2. How We Use Your Information

  • Provide and operate the platform: manage your account, process transactions, display your products/business profile, and facilitate buyer-seller communication.
  • Payment processing: calculate fees, process payments through Paystack, and manage payouts to sellers.
  • Buyer protection and disputes: investigate reports of non-delivery or fraud, freeze or deduct disputed amounts from seller balances, and assist with law enforcement referrals when necessary.
  • Identity verification: verify seller identity via Ghana Card to maintain marketplace trust and enable accountability.
  • AI assistant: provide AI-powered business insights using your business data (inventory, sales, customer patterns). Your data is sent to the AI model only when you use the assistant and is not used to train third-party models.
  • Notifications: send push notifications for messages, payments, low stock alerts, and account-related events.
  • Improvement: analyze usage patterns to improve features, fix bugs, and enhance the user experience.
  • Legal compliance: comply with applicable laws, regulations, and legal processes.

3. Buyer Protection Fee

A 2.5% Buyer Protection fee is applied to every payment processed through BizPadi. This fee covers payment processing costs and funds BizPadi's dispute resolution service. The fee is displayed transparently as a separate line item on every invoice before payment. Sellers are not charged this fee — it is paid entirely by the buyer.

4. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only in these circumstances:

  • Between buyers and sellers: your business name, product listings, location, and chat messages are shared as part of marketplace transactions.
  • Payment processors: Paystack processes all payments. We share the minimum data required for transaction processing (amount, email, reference).
  • Cloud infrastructure: we use third-party cloud providers for database hosting, authentication, file storage, push notifications, and error tracking. These providers process data on our behalf under their respective privacy policies and data processing agreements.
  • AI providers: a third-party AI service processes business context data when you use the AI assistant. No personally identifiable information is sent beyond what you include in your queries.
  • Law enforcement: we may disclose seller identity information (including Ghana Card data) to law enforcement authorities when assisting with fraud investigations or dispute resolution, or when required by law.
  • Legal requirements: we may disclose information if required to do so by law, regulation, or valid legal process.

5. Data Storage and Security

  • Data is stored in secure, managed databases with row-level security policies ensuring users can only access their own data.
  • Business logos, product images, and documents are stored in secure cloud storage with access controls.
  • All data is transmitted over HTTPS/TLS encryption.
  • Passwords are hashed using industry-standard algorithms.
  • Ghana Card and KYC data is stored securely and accessed only by authorized BizPadi personnel for verification and dispute resolution.
  • The mobile app caches certain data locally for offline access. This cached data remains on your device and is cleared upon sign-out.

6. Data Retention

  • Active accounts: we retain your data for as long as your account is active.
  • Deleted accounts: upon account deletion, we remove personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required for legal, dispute resolution, or financial record-keeping obligations.
  • Transaction records: invoice and payment records may be retained for up to 7 years for tax and compliance purposes.
  • Chat messages: retained for the lifetime of the conversation unless the associated product is removed or the account is deleted.

Under Ghana's Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843), you have the right to:

  • Access: request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correction: request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data.
  • Deletion: request deletion of your account and associated data, subject to legal retention requirements.
